WINCHESTER MODEL 1200 BAYONET ATTACHMENT

The Model 1200 trench gun was used in the Vietnam War. It differs from all other bayonet attachments because it has a lip at the front of the attachment. The lip prevents the barrel from extending past the attachment. The Model 1200 bayonet attachment had a dark gray parkerized finish. Brownell's sells a spray on Parkerizing Finish which can be baked in a kitchen oven.

INSTRUCTIONS FOR MOUNTING TO A COMMERCIAL MODEL 1200

Cut barrel to 20 inches (measured from the muzzle to the end of the breach where the rim of the shell ends, or with the barrel out of the gun, the total length from end to end). Remove the 3 securing screws and slide the bayonet attachment on the barrel until the muzzle makes contact with the lip on the front of the attachment. Scribe 3 lines on the underside of the barrel through the screw holes with a small rat tail file. Be sure that the leg of the attachment is lined up with the trigger guard and that the barrel is firmly against the lip. Remove the attachment and file the grooves until the attachment screws pass through without making contact with the barrel.
